Well, it’s the 1st of January and the start of a new year. It’s a time when New Year’s resolutions are made by some, when goals for the coming year are set by others, when aspirations evolve and dreams are dreamt by many.
But in the property world, what will 2019 hold? Where are we in the property cycle, what changes and challenges lay ahead, and how will Brexit affect us (if at all)?
I’ve just been watching a short video by a good friend of ours, Jane Harling, and it reminded me of something that we firmly believe. That is, whatever the property market does, it’s important to stay flexible.
Some people rigidly stick to one strategy, be it HMOs, rent to rent, commercial conversions etc. But we like to have a range of strategies in our ‘toolbox’ so that when we find a property, or a vendor who is looking to sell, we can open up our toolbox and see which strategy will give the best result for the vendor and for us.
We can pull out one or a combination of different strategies to put a deal together. That way we don’t miss an opportunity when it comes along, and we can adapt according to the market we find ourselves in.
So that’s the end of this first short blog for 2019 – but here’s wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and successful year.
